   I think it's glorious that there's now a Mastodon server operated by people who used to work for Twitter (macaw.social). I could have never imagined it when I started in 2016.

     OTOH, we now have millions of Twitter users decrying how insufferable it is to choose a site among a list of domains; to not cater to the singular-ized App Store experience of App = Service.

     The crystallization of that kind of sentiment could bring down the Internet, and I'd bet actors like Elon Musk are already positioning themselves to exploit it for nefarious ends.

     @Gargron I guess everyone wants to be "the next Twitter Mastodon server".
     We'll see how it goes in the future.
     Anyway, I feel lost, after my original Mastodon account (since 2018) got censured at the mastodon server, which I signed back then...
     It seems censure is pretty much alive on Mastodon as well.

     @Gargron I originally set this up as a “just for fun” thing I didn’t think anyone would actually use, so you can imagine my amusement at seeing this toot pop up on my timeline again and again as people boost it. Particularly given how rapidly it’s grown over the last week and change.

     @Gargron until there is an easier way to hope servers I think I'll just stay here. Currently you basically have to make a new account per server. Mastodon needs a structure where the accounts are handled at a central hub and we can visit or join other servers similar to how Discord functions.

     @Gargron I bet they couldn't have imagined it in 2016, either. Or in 2021 for that matter.

     I hope a lot of ex-Twitter employees check out Mastodon and the Fediverse in general, try hosting a server, and perhaps eventually write new software for other services that could be connected to the Fediverse.
