Random cheap sushi spot I’m at in Burbank is comparable in quality to some of the highest end SF sushi spots. Lol
This is not fair

Really? I always heard it was good, but LA sushi is most of the sushi I've ever had. I thought SF would be the same.
I know when I worked with Japanese bands they were always really excited to go eat sushi in LA. I thought that was strange, but they claimed it was the best.
@billyjoebowers it is excellent. SF sushi does not rate at all for me. maybe a few places, but that's it.
@billyjoebowers yep. same with chinese and thai food. korean too. all excellent
Even the cheap places I used to go were good.
@skinnylatte @billyjoebowers The best Thai food I ever had was in a strip mall in Garden Grove. My friends and I made the pilgrimage at least once a year back in the day. It might not have been any better than any other random restaurant around there, but it was better than anything I had in SF.
@skinnylatte @billyjoebowers Note that i am not expert or even picky about Thai food. But I remember the food, the coffee, the fish tank, thirty years later. It was that good.
@spiegelmama @billyjoebowers Sapp and Lacha in Thai town are also great!
@billyjoebowers @spiegelmama sometimes I’m worried that the Thai place I like will switch my food with the next table. I would be deeply unhappy with the unspicy food, and anyone who receives my dish may not survive.
Once this guy was complaining about how spicy his Pad Thai was and we were just giving him the side eye, but then I tasted it and it seriously was.

@skinnylatte @billyjoebowers @spiegelmama I eat spicy. But not Thai spicy. That's next level. Everywhere 'make it spicy'. At the Thai place? 'medium's fine with me' :)
@marcotietz @billyjoebowers @spiegelmama I lived in Thailand, so I’m Thai spicy in Thailand. ;)
@marcotietz @billyjoebowers @spiegelmama one time I went to a Vietnamese restaurant in Berlin. I was depressed after a week of no spicy. The auntie said do you need chillies? And she gave me a syringe full of Birds Eye chillies and said you can shoot it into your mouth. I do that sometimes when I need to feel and taste something here. I did, and it was what I needed
@skinnylatte @billyjoebowers @spiegelmama I came from 'it has pepper in it, it is quite spicy' Germany, so I'm quite proud to eat 'western folk spicy' at the Thai place. :)
