     @waifu a vegan could and probably has argued that mushrooms are sentient enough that they aren't vegan.
     
     This would be false though; the mycelium network is sentient, but the fungus fruits that we eat are just that: fruits.

     @prettygood If I had a vegetarian friend visiting LA, I used to take them to Happy Family III in Monterey Park, because the food was pretty good: noodles, fried green beans, fried mushrooms, these are reasonable things to eat, I'll eat those things. Without fail, the vegetarian ignores those dishes and orders a bunch of "we used bean curd to make it look unsettlingly like fish and then we added seaweed so it's like burnt fish skin" bullshit. I don't fucking get it.

     @prettygood I remember when I had a 'vegan burger' a few years ago. It's like it wants to be vegetarian and a meat eater, too. They can't have it both ways, lol.
