    I was born and raised in Providence, RI and this city is arguably one of the most messed out places on Earth. Half of this town is a cemetery. Probably about 70% of my friends who grew up here, their houses were haunted. Straight up. It never really registered with me because it was normalized

    It’s sort of not surprising that Edgar Allen Poe and H.P. Lovecraft, two of the most famous horror writers in history, came from here. (Well, Poe was Baltimore, but he spent a spell in PVD)

    It’s just sort of insane that ghosts are just a *thing* that happens here. And everyone is just basically alright with that. We just have to deal with it.

      @dugglebutt I actually like living in haunted houses, but I've been lucky to have chill ghosts in my life.

      Some of my first "friends" were the ghosts in my Grandparent's house. It freaked my dad out, because he was not friendly with them when he was a kid.

      @RamenCatholic yeah. Like look. People think I’m insane, and they might be right lol. But when a ghost sort of haunts your house, and I’ve spoken about this with friends of mine, you just kind of live there, but they own that house
      Nobody really understands this argument unless you have had to deal with it.
      But if you have done that, you get it.

      @dugglebutt basically, yeah.

      I lived in a house that was so haunted once that it took less than a year to turn a hardcore "Fundamentalist Atheist" into a believer.

      I think it was watching the dog play with the ghost that finally broke him.

      @lydiaschoch if I were a ghost, I'd probably be bored a lot & try to annoy people.

      Also, it probably helps ghosts remain "sane" if they can interact with the mortal world occasionally - being acknowledged by the living might reinforce their existence. 🤷♀️

      @dugglebutt @RamenCatholic I hope someone will eventually figure out what she wants. What an interesting story.

      @RamenCatholic ghosts aren’t like generally bad. The one who lived in my house was very pleasant. She was extremely loud, which was kind of annoying, but I suspect she was trying to show me something. I don’t know what it was because she kept opening up these attic doors. Which was fine during the summer but during the winter it got crazy cold. But I never found anything weird in there.
      I never saw her face, she was always leading me away, so I only saw her from reverse. Every once in a while, I would drive by my house and I would see her staring out into the backyard. I don’t know what she was looking at.
      I really wanted to help her but I didn’t know how.
      I kind of largely regret that I couldn’t figure out what she wanted to tell me.

      @RamenCatholic @lydiaschoch @dugglebutt We had a ghost who only interacted with Kid1. I think Kid2 maybe a couple times. I would hear Kid1’s side of the conversation but if I peeked my head around the corner to ask what was up, the best I got was “The goats doesn’t want me talk about it.” That weirded me out a bit, but I really think it just didn’t like grown-ups. After puberty, he said he didn’t even remember it.
