   But it's not possible to have
   * Person plus man
   * Man plus person
   * Person plus woman
   * Woman plus person
   Why tho? :neocat_confused:

     Realistically I don't ever see Unicode adding more gender diversity options or even more queer flags, it's a lot of work for something that will be useless for most people (and as a bonus it's an easy target for right-wing backlash)
     
     They're already struggling with skin color modifiers lol

     I have a sneaking feeling that person plus person here is just representing "neither of the two genders were provided" so it's treated as a blank default rather than a third gender option.

     @starlight @jessew I thought as much, but I checked - not quite.

     The gender-neutral couple is just "couple with heart", single codepoint: U+1F491

     Woman and man combinations were introduced in the next version, encoded like this:
     woman/man, zero-width joiner, heavy black heart, variation selector, zero-width joiner, woman/man

     @starlight @jessew The emoji for "person" (U+1F9D1) was added later, in Unicode 10.0 / emoji 5.0, and it seems like existing combinations were not updated to include it.

     While you can technically write:
     U+1F9D1 U+200D U+2764 U+FE0F U+200D U+1F469
     probably nothing is going to actually combine that into a "couple" emoji.
