the nigger tried to cash a fake $50,000 check. What did she think they were gonna do? Let her walk out of there?

Trying to cash a genuine $50,000 check already brings a ton of scrutiny on you without having even committed a crime. Depending on the branch they might not even have enough in the drawers to pay it out.

@Hoss @Terry would have been easier when money was backed by actual gold and silver

@Terry well for starters, banks don't even have that much cash on hand unless notified in advance. like 10k tops

Some branches have more, it depends on how much cash volume they deal with. One time when I went into my regular branch to collect boxes of half dollars towards the end of the day, the teller left a document tallying the final cash drawer balances on the counter where I could see it and it added up to around ~$120k cash on hand.

Halves are the only boxes worth doing, but only barely. Used to get two boxes a week but I stopped about a year ago. I think my average was 1-4 silver halves (often the '65-70 40%, but occasionally pre-65 90%) per two-box trip. It's not really worth it, but it's fun. A couple times I got bonanza boxes that had 8+ silver halves in 'em.

@Hoss @Terry If you have a legitimate $50k check you're probably not cashing it, just depositing it. Today you're most likely to have that shit wired to your account digitally.

If you actually wanted to cash it they'd probably tell you you'll have to deposit the check and come back next week after they request extra cash from the depository.

I'd feel a little bad about that, but if she's determined to part with them for face I'd happily take it.

@Hoss @Heil_Honkler @Terry One time a lady came into where I worked and spent 15 bucks in silver dollars with maybe 1 or 2 being susan b anthony dollars I knew one was the first year it was out the silver one. She did this because she said the coin place told her "they're only worth their face value" which I knew was total horseshit. I bought all 13 or 14 for their face value from the register, I took them home and looked and the oldest silver dollar 1889 was worth over about $100 bucks in middle ground condition.

@Hoss @Heil_Honkler @Terry I asked her why she was using them and that's what she told me. Listen I wasn't an adult I don't know nothing I can't even buy a lotto ticket or cigs she's much much smarter than me since I knew right away the dude was lying to get them.

I would've told her they're silver and she should try another coin shop that's not run by a scumbag. If she still wants to spend them for face after that, it's on her.
