@UKFilmNerd@mastodon.me.uk that's the thing, they never really nailed fake reflections (screen space reflections are ok some of the time) so ray-traced reflections really stand out
faked lighting is at the point where ray-tracing might be more technically accurate but not enough that anyone's going to notice and if it's not denoised well it's going to look worse too -

@rosey Maybe it's just me, but I find it amusing that you need beefy PCs with expensive GPUs to get ray tracing but yet developers have been faking the lighting effects for years in games and it's looked almost as good.
