     so far the slugs are completely innocent. the first kill was in a LAKE and slugs are TERRESTRIAL. the second kill was WORMS. i will not sit idly by and have the good name of slugs dragged through the mud. or dragged out of the mud since they actually like being dragged around in the mud #monsterdon

     If this movie is anything like FROGS, Then by "slugs" what they actually mean is slugs, snakes, snails, eels, worms, and all other gastropods.

     film studies voice: you see the movie Slugs (1988) explores the "horror in the everyday" in the footsteps of david lynch, taking its effectivenss from how there are lots of plants around all the time and slugs like to eat them, but what if they eat guys instead #monsterdon

     yeah usually invasive species management is a process that takes decades of careful and resource-intensive work and even then has a very low success rate. they should have really gotten some consultants to advise on a multi-timescale mitigation effort for the slugs and gotten ready for the ~12 movies it would take to effectively restore the ecosystem #monsterdon

     they made the slugs have like a cicada sound but the thing about slugs is that they are squishy and have no stridulatory organs and so one must imagine that the same evolutionary novelty that allowed them to eat and digest meat has also allowed them to scream #monsterdon

     in the mammalian articulatory system, it was the development of costal breathing that allowed the laryngeal muscles to become free as an articulatory organ. this also coincided with rearranging the leverage and musculature in the jaw which allowed the repurposing of the bones in the jaw to form the bones of the middle ear. It is believed that these adaptations could have been subject to joint selection for hearing, chewing, and vocalization. So the slugs developing the ability to scream alongside the ability to eat meat tracks, at least loosely, the course of mammalian evolution for some related body systems #monsterdon

     but seriously how did this movie and book ever get written. like usually there is at least some semblance of an idea. even "frogs" was an idea because frogs are like menacing in how they are always out there ribbiting in the darkness. but if you went through a list of all the animals and just wrote" what if {animal} was bad" slugs would have to be close to if not at the bottom. like even sea cucumbers are more menacing. #monsterdon

     a bunch of joyless shovelware. 1 star for existing and 2 stars for the ONE TIME we were shown a slug having a big bitey mouth.
