someone has kidnapped the sound director and replaced all the incidental music with the kind of stuff wallace and gromit bump on clay radio #monsterdon
so far the slugs are completely innocent. the first kill was in a LAKE and slugs are TERRESTRIAL. the second kill was WORMS. i will not sit idly by and have the good name of slugs dragged through the mud. or dragged out of the mud since they actually like being dragged around in the mud #monsterdon
someone call up the soundtrack and tell it that it doesn't get to put "upbeat hero's walk through the town square" over riding around in a cop car #monsterdon
i just sort of instinctively change tabs when i see rich people in frame, so i missed that scene, but i also instinctively switch back when a tab starts making slug noises #monsterdon
slugs have exactly zero menacing energy, they are just little sticky guys. i am pre-emptively deciding that the slugs are being framed by some other more nefarious mollusc, probably a bivalve #monsterdon
If this movie is anything like FROGS, Then by "slugs" what they actually mean is slugs, snakes, snails, eels, worms, and all other gastropods. #monsterdon
film studies voice: you see the movie Slugs (1988) explores the "horror in the everyday" in the footsteps of david lynch, taking its effectivenss from how there are lots of plants around all the time and slugs like to eat them, but what if they eat guys instead #monsterdon
yeah usually invasive species management is a process that takes decades of careful and resource-intensive work and even then has a very low success rate. they should have really gotten some consultants to advise on a multi-timescale mitigation effort for the slugs and gotten ready for the ~12 movies it would take to effectively restore the ecosystem #monsterdon
i have no idea who the second guy was, first time i saw him was when he came by in his football jersey and said he was in. maybe like 5 minutes of screen time. unless the main guy and him were different guys this whole time #monsterdon
someone drowning in a pool of carnivorous slugs may involuntarily try to drown someone that is rescuing them, so before rescuing them make sure your upside down ankle hang is secure #monsterdon
editing send back a note, they say that "even if you are wearing a mask your face moves when you talk," can we get some reshoots? no? every scene in theis movie only got a single take anyway? got it i'll let them know #monsterdon
it seems like all you need to be invulnerable to slugs is "wearing any clothes" and "not lying down in a pool of slugs and not trying to get up" #monsterdon
sir as a pair of football dads i don't trust your ability to estimate your sewer slug baiting time down to the second like that, i'm going to dump the stuff in in a few minutes or after i get tired of waiting for you guys #monsterdon
music can't decide if we are in an A-Team "trust the heros" moment or "imminent unknown danger," continuing its streak of reading literally every scene wrong #monsterdon
this movie is really about the townspeople realizing that they were who they needed all along, that they don't need to wait for the permission of the state to solve their own problems, and they are powerful only as far as the bonds between each other make them #monsterdon
the lead man character has an embouchure like you get after a lifetime of playing the french horn and i am obsessed with watching him say words #monsterdon
no notes on the extremely dumb guys version of what rich people are like, sitting around signing documents and making deals in library rooms with fake walls #monsterdon
the bad lip syncing and the extremely strange pacing of this movie is making me feel like i am inside of a nightmare that is like a half remembered version of all the other "animal becomes bad" movies #monsterdon
they made the slugs have like a cicada sound but the thing about slugs is that they are squishy and have no stridulatory organs and so one must imagine that the same evolutionary novelty that allowed them to eat and digest meat has also allowed them to scream #monsterdon
in the mammalian articulatory system, it was the development of costal breathing that allowed the laryngeal muscles to become free as an articulatory organ. this also coincided with rearranging the leverage and musculature in the jaw which allowed the repurposing of the bones in the jaw to form the bones of the middle ear. It is believed that these adaptations could have been subject to joint selection for hearing, chewing, and vocalization. So the slugs developing the ability to scream alongside the ability to eat meat tracks, at least loosely, the course of mammalian evolution for some related body systems #monsterdon
but seriously how did this movie and book ever get written. like usually there is at least some semblance of an idea. even "frogs" was an idea because frogs are like menacing in how they are always out there ribbiting in the darkness. but if you went through a list of all the animals and just wrote" what if {animal} was bad" slugs would have to be close to if not at the bottom. like even sea cucumbers are more menacing. #monsterdon
