@Suiseiseki yeah, it's not endorsed by GNU and it allows proprietary stuff. It doesn't mean it's not Linux. Sure, it's not entirely free by default, but there's a reason for that. @waifu
@gettie@waifu Just because a GNU distro happens to use the kernel, Linux doesn't make such distro "just Linux".
The video showed nothing that had anything to do with Linux - it appears to be a DE bug that may identically occur if you run that DE on a proprietary BSD or on GNU/Hurd.
@Suiseiseki i didn't say it's a GNU/Linux thing in general. i'm pretty sure if you install Cinnamon and the same plugin on any supported system, you will get a similar result. @waifu
people are likely to learn from Debian itself about those nonfree packages by browsing Debian's package database and wiki, and then might install them.
@nicholas@gettie@waifu There is user choice and there is inducement to install proprietary malware that takes the users freedom.
What would be true choice would be a selection between all of the free software, but currently hours and hours of developer time is being used to do work that goes against humanity by packaging proprietary malware, that could be spent packaging free software instead (or used to do something else that is not harmful).
