   @deprecated_ii None of those look anything like prepubescent children and even in the fictional story they do not have such age, so clearly not correct.
   
   I don't really like any of those characters personally.
   
   
   For me, I like hundreds of years old handcrafted dolls.

     @sicp @deprecated_ii As pointed in the show, they were crafted in attempt to make the perfect girl (and he succeeded with 翠星石すいせいせき).
     
     The maidens tend to be quite small and doll-sized, except for 水銀灯すいぎんとう, who is a bit larger, but even then, Rozen left her partially constructed (although she decided to come to life anyway).

     Even up to episode 10 in the original アニメ series it is not confirmed if they have accurate anatomy (but confirms they have some mighty fine dolljoints).
     
     In later seasons, it is displayed that they're dolls after all, with none of those anatomical features you're thinking of.
     
     They drink tea and even eat food (hamburgers with flower eggs for example) and it is not clear where such matter goes really.

     @Suiseiseki @deprecated_ii I remember in the show for most purposes they were physically the same and had the same affects as people (eating and drinking stuff, crying) but there was also that part where Shinku didn't know what a toilet was. so that leads me to believe even if they had accurate anatomy it probably doesn't serve a function for them. They probably just absorb the tea into their soul or whatever. But that doesn't answer the question as to whether it's actually there or not.
