Fresh food was widely available. We went to the market daily, as part of our routine. There was good quality and cheap food everywhere. Thousands of dishes at any time.
I miss that, a lot.
If I were having the kind of day I had today, but I was in Singapore or Malaysia, I’d be eating hot plate tofu and steamed fish at some local restaurant to feel better.
@skinnylatte Would it have mattered? Would you have listened?
If I could tell myself things, I probably wouldn't have listened, so it wouldn't have mattered. Sometimes the only way to learn is to pass through the fire yourself
@CaraBruar my friend’s son goes to school in Stockholm. The teachers were really worried he wasn’t eating food at school, ever. He finally told them he needed flavors
@skinnylatte I had a friend who grew up in India. At work lunches she always brought her own bottle of chilli sauce. Australian food was always too bland.
@CaraBruar I’m ok with it if it’s just good quality simple ingredients. I’ve been fine with Finnish / Swedish food like that, especially seafood and breads. But I don’t think I can do it.. daily.
@skinnylatte No. Aged care homes here serve slush, macdonalds would be more nutritious. There's more to food than nutrients. Has to look and smell and taste good as well. And those things have a huge cultural component.
