I used to like Star Wars when I was young. I haven't seen any of them since the prequels, and every time I hear people talk about anything from Star Wars today, I know it's probably gay. Sad to see what they did to it. -

@Verfassungsschmutz I remember seeing the rerelease of Empire Strikes Back in theaters. It was such a fun time and got me hooked on star wars. I have zero excitement about any of these kind of movies today. -

@BowsacNoodle The third trilogy ain’t bad, but the nigger is very tiresome. It’s still pretty based though as far as Hollyjew goes, because there’s no interracial relationships or homosex in it. Sadly that’s about as good as it gets these days. -

@BowsacNoodle @Verfassungsschmutz Yeah the rereleases ruined the simple, timeless message of the original theatrical releases. Vader was obviously the one in the right, and Luke Skywalker was an absolute nutjob. -

@BowsacNoodle @Verfassungsschmutz Vader found himself in an incredibly difficult situation; he knew his boss was a mass-murdering psycho with literal sorcerer powers; so when they blew up Alderan, he tried to berate the Imperial top-brass with an admonition on their level, speaking their language:
> … the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant, next to the Power of the Force.BowserNoodle ☦️ likes this. -

@BowsacNoodle @Verfassungsschmutz All the later editions ie the “Director’s Cuts” or whatever, just obscured and obfuscated the entire rich, interwoven, complex and satisfying tapestry of perfection, that was bubbling just under the surface. Lucas’ original genius was in keeping himself out of the way of himself.

@KingOfWhiteAmerica @Verfassungsschmutz I remember hearing star wars was only a success because George Lucas couldn't make all the decisions. I think that's sort of the case for most director's cuts. They're just not as good as the original movie most of the time. -

@BowsacNoodle @Verfassungsschmutz It’s hard to think of a single, better example of this phenomenon. I’ve been informed by many accounts in my circles that the Prequels represent thoroughly decent, satisfactory stories in their own right. But I cannot see it. All I can see of it is a terrible fall. Because early on I saw what it *should* have been. In order to enjoy the Prequels, I’d be obliged to accept so many of the premises, which ruined the original releases. It’s a burden, ngl.
And of course I’m aware it’s a silly thing to be attached to; and I take it in stride. I’m not bothered that people enjoy things. That said, I’m not unaware that basically everyone is dissatisfied with what it became; and if more people had seen the meaning I did, originally, it’s doubtful they’d have stood for it.BowserNoodle ☦️ likes this.
