A mouse is a fair bit slower than a keyboard. It's like the difference between using a touch screen to turn on your windshield wipers or just flicking the mechanical knob.

I even have 10" and 15" usb monitors for my laptop. Multimonitor is absolutely necessary when it's go time.

Portable monitors are very handy when you have to work locally on a headless setup. Grub kept borking on one of my servers a month back, and I had to chroot times to figure out the issue, so I couldn't ssh in. 10 inch monitor to the rescue. No need for plugs either. It's usb powered.

yeah the new ones do display port over usb-c.

also good for laptops with busted screen. You want to disconnect the battery before you do the panel swap. But some laptops will lose their TPM key doing that. You want to be able to decrypt the bitlocker encryption first. You dont want to get caught telling a client you need their microsoft account and hope the recovery key was properly added to their account or their data lost.
