@kura@hai.z0ne.social @lain@lain.com @kaia@brotka.st Yes, Alpine is not a GNU/Linux distro. Go install that if you want to avoid GNU (you will have to deal with musl and busybox shittery tho).

@lain@lain.com @kaia@brotka.st @kura@hai.z0ne.social Yes, I'd probably rather do that instead of Alpine if I really wanted to avoid GNU for some weirdo reason.

@SuperDicq @lain @kaia @kura Alpine is not "GNU-free" - what software do you think they use to build it and what do you think the first thing most Alpine users do?
That's right, they notice that it sucks and a bunch of stuff is missing and install GNU - although they don't even realize that they installed GNU and the thing that made it not suck is GNU. -

@Suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com @lain@lain.com @kaia@brotka.st @kura@hai.z0ne.social By default I don't think it's fair to call it GNU/Linux tho. It contains no GNU.

@SuperDicq @lain @kaia @kura I didn't write to call it GNU/Linux.
I call it BusyBox/Linux.
It is the case that it's built with GNU and the typical use case turns it into GNU/Linux,Abhiseck Paira :gnu: :gnuhurd: repeated this. -

I think we should just call it Alpine. And then explain that it's a poor imitation of a GNU/Linux that doesn't contain GNU by default.

@redstarfish @SuperDicq @lain @kura @kaia Yes, it's a inferior clone of GNU that fails to contain GNU/Freedom.
