If people unironically start to consider supporting free speech rights, a key pillar of any democracy, to be "fascist" I guess I'm a fascist now.

But fine. I'll go watch the video made by the Swedish man famous for yelling at video game that everyone is talking about.
I'm sure this video is only going to bother me continuously by calling things "Linux" that should be called GNU or GNU/Linux while there's probably nothing else wrong with it. -

@SuperDicq Current left-wing politics are literally "everybody that's right of me is a nazi/fascist".

@phnt@fluffytail.org I disagree. Most leftists, including myself, that I know are nothing like that. This is a vocal minority.

@SuperDicq It might be like that, but since the vocal minority sets trends now, because others aren't as vocal, the end result is this.
This is probably a bad example, but it's the inverse of the quiet voter "problem". You don't have the correct view of current politics, because the majority isn't vocal. Yet they still influence the end result. In this case, being quiet, or not as vocal, makes you unable to have influence. -

@SuperDicq The video has many insults besides referring to "GNU/Linux" as "Linux".
He insults GIMP by calling it "open source", states that Linux is "open source" (it isn't) and at the end gives all the credit for the system to Linus, despite knowing that Linux is only a kernel. -

@phnt@fluffytail.org I don't feel like I'm being quiet about my political opinions.
I feel like the worst people on all sides of the political spectrum are being put in the spotlight specifically because they cause the most controversy and causes "engagement" in the proprietary recommendation algorithms which is actively killing our democracy.

I don't think you are, at least in my bubble of sorts. But when I look at it from a more open view, you are much more quiet than the vocal minority. Just look at public timelines from the bigger Mastodon instances. It's politics through and through. Also please don't take that as an invitation to be like them, because that will just make people laugh at you like they already do on these types. And for them it's deserved. I've never seen more unhinged political takes from the left than on here. It's feels almost unreal.
I feel like the worst people on all sides of the political spectrum are being put in the spotlight specifically because they cause the most controversy
Makes sense to me. Stupidity and controversy sells in $current_year.

@SuperDicq I don't know how pewdiepie and free speech relate
But fascists are against free speech (example: Trump, Musk)And for pewdiepie, afaik he made nazi apologistic videos and was rightly "cancelled"
Ofc he's a comedian so it was something he did for fun, I have no idea what his politics are/were
But that got a lot of his leftist fans to leave, and he didn't careSo idk what pewdiepie and free speech have to do together, but hope that helps
