  His son confronted Karmelo. This is just a fact. Karmelo is defending on self-defense. Karmelo needs to show reasonable belief of imminent danger, the necessity of using force, and the proportionality of the force used to the threat.
  
  Had dad made racist statements, Karmelo's counsel would use that as a justification to dive into the families history and their views on race and he would use anything discovered in Karmelo's defense. Without any statement, a judge may find such discovery to be a mere fishing expedition and intrusive.
  
  This is very different than a situation like that girl who got sodomized and murdered in the corn field. Here there was a confrontation, and dad needs to make sure Karmelo has nothing to hang racial animus on.

  I get it, and I'm not saying that's why he did it. But showing up and getting removed is another solid move. If he did that intentionally, good for him. He should show at every public appearance, do nothing — don't make a scene other than by his presence and the family's treatment of him, and push them into foolishly seeking a restraining order. I just wish he had put more emphasis on his son being the true victim in all of this. In all reality his son should have gotten a teacher, but at that age testosterone is flaring and boys brains don't work right. It's a tragedy and the worst part is the murderer is getting paid big money for perpetrating it. It doesn't help that boomers like metcalfs father perpetually live life like it's the 90s where we thought race relations were getting better without realizing Obama set race relations back decades with his rhetoric.

  This is one of those hard cases that make for bad law.
  Prosecutors really hate self-defense cases.
  Because it takes what is a slam dunk homicide conviction and punches holes in it.
  In order to claim self-defense, you first have to admit that you killed someone.
  "Yes, I killed him, but the law says that is ok under very specific circumstances."
  And they really don't like that.
  This will get pled out to manslaughter with little jail time.
  Nobody wants this to go to court.

  He's going to have to talk fast to get around the fact that his client has confessed to the killing.
  Judges really don't want to set a precedent of expanding the rules around self-defense, so that self-defense plea is a huge problem.
  The jury, no matter how niggerfied, doesn't get to decide whether the evidence supports self-defense. That's all on the judge.

It however looks like they're going "double or nothing" with the full DinDu defense and the prosecution would have to be "in on it" to let him get away with a claim like that (which can't be completely ruled out).
