@dev Monkeybrains every time, especially no caps
mmwave isn't that bothered by rain honestly unless it's long distance link. And this will be even better because it's p2p/directional.
My 5G hotspot has no problems pulling 500mbit+ bouncing off buildings in downtown Bellevue in the rain. I'd be able to pull gigabit easy if my hotspot let me attach an external directional antennae.- Doughnut Lollipop 【記録係】:blobfoxgooglymlem: likes this.

@feld @dev Couldn't you just crack open the hotpsot and wire up an external antenna? :blobfoxthinkgoogly: -

@tk @dev Yeah but I'd rather not mutilate it too much because it's not just a backup/failover internet connection at home, I also unplug it and take it with me sometimes Doughnut Lollipop 【記録係】:blobfoxgooglymlem: likes this. -

@feld @dev I mean, you just need to put a coax jack on the outside that's wired accordingly. Not too crazy. :blobfoxgoogly:

@dev just tested by forcing a failover (this fedi instance is now on 5G as I type this!) and a ping to my server in Wisconsin from Washington state went from 60ms on fiber to 70ms on 5g, but it spikes up to 80ms. Still completely reasonable though. -

@feld how’s the latency? Comparable to wired?
