@eliseo01@raccoon@Anonsfw@jeffcliff Unless Noveau developers have gone and broken their drivers, the nvidia GPU should in fact work at native resolution and support suspend (too bad the GPU will run at idle clocks - which is fine for the church of Emacs, but not proprietary games).
The AMD integrated GPU could cause issue if it isn't manually manually disabled, but AMD GPUs can in fact be ran at native resolution with the radeon driver (but you'd need to use a DE that doesn't require 3D acceleration and you don't get ACPI S3).
He'd get nothing but TTY given the absolutely proprietary and crippled GPU. So instead I'd suggest consider getting hardware that isn't crippled and works with Linux-libre, then swap the kernel to Linux-libre. Preferably a distro more organized than Arch, such as Gentoo, pacman has tendency to install proprietary software without warning and will reinstall it often between upgrades after you remove it.
