     @coolboymew @mint When you have costs for user actions it theoretically reduces spam and bad actors doing DDOS type stuff, fedi is vulnerable and only remains usable because few people intentionally try to break the ecosystem. The equivalent of a 10,000 png Niggy post being added to every Revolver user's hard drive several times an hour due to the extra decentralized nature could turn out badly if there aren't countermeasures.

     You look at the Kademlia paper and it's great but people that implemented it directly (i2p, IPFS, etc.) got a lot of nodes that exploited the network: Kademlia just uses distance and uptime. Proof-of-Work would mean dipshits with fancy GPUs own the network, which is fine if you are constructing a network where PoW is valuable. What's valuable to Revolver is reliable and timely delivery of blocks.

     Yeah, a site I frequent does a thing where it gives you an argon2 hash and you have to brute force it which can be done locally, then it gives you a cookie that lasts like a week. Doesn't require any javashit.
