    Next, from @PamelaSchure

    Q2. Have you ever ridden a bike that fell apart while you were riding it? What happened?

      @bobjonkman @trouble @ascentale @PamelaSchure @bikenite I lowered my saddle more than 1cm not long after I got the touring bike (wow, seven years ago now), and that helped a lot. Haven't had pain while riding since then (as opposed to walking).

      The knees and I, we have a history and I've had some very good care. Age and weight are factors here as well. I'm taking it easy and if the pain persists then I'll check with the professionals again.

      @trouble

      I had some knee pain at the start of last year's biking season. Took it easy, biking much slower than past seasons. As the summer progressed the pain went away, and could feel my knees getting stronger. Still biking slower than usual, tho. I wonder how the knees (and my speed) will be this biking season...

      @oheso @ascentale @PamelaSchure @bikenite knee pain can be tight , tired, overworked tendons. Gentle stretching at first, then more intense as you are sure it's not injured. I've done long term damage to myself encountering knee pain too many times before seeking advice.

      A2. As for the bike's motor falling apart, that's another kettle of donuts. Apart from crashes, I've abandoned a Lejog ride with saddle sores. And yesterday I had a sudden, strong pain in my knee when accelerating from a traffic light. Happy to say that was just 1km from home after a 100km ride, so I just concentrated on taking it easy the rest of the way (and half of that is downhill).

      Knee seems OK today, but I'm taking it easy.
