   "Conspiracy theories are just to give people comfort that the world makes sense" Is a funny way of denying cause and effect on a philosophical level.
   If we can't draw conclusions from patterns why are we bothering to measure reality at all?
   I won't deny that many tall tales are woven to oversimplify complex behaviors, but that's not the same as saying there are no driving forces.

     @sun @gabriel okay all those crazy stories about the CIA and FBI that were theories in the 90s? yeah they were true. but since then they've done nothing weird.

     @bonifartius @gabriel this is the same stuff as "party xyz is popular because it gives simple solutions to complicated problems..."
     
     it's just nonsense. there are tons of 'complicated problems' that have simple solutions. and often the 'solutions' put forward by the accuser are just as simple (or: simplistic).
