@rvcx Thanks for the respectful & thorough notes. I absolutely love what the federated web is trying to do, and Mastodon is my only “guilt-free” social site.
But as a UX designer (and a guy who wants his non-techie friends to feel comfortable enough with the federated web to move over from Insta / X), it’s hard seeing concerns about usability (and your other points) dismissed in order to keep the club small.
I hope this inspires change, either at here or a new site.
@rvcx I only had time to skim for the moment, but my initial reaction is that I disagree. You're right that Mastodon doesn't work like old Twitter. That's because it is something entirely different. I have community here, as opposed to random shit some alg decided I wanted to see. I follow a few hash tags, and boop, there's new people to follow that are relevant to my interests.
@rvcx I for one kneel before your devotion to providing the Fediverse extremely available and largely useless solar cycle trivium and wish you the greatest of success on Blueth Social doing the same
Real name real face posters rarely have anything interesting or insightful to say. You sacrificed the natural candor of anonymity for no reason, considering you are a nobody whose name carries no weight and thus has zero reason to be freely shared with strangers online. You have never posted an opinion that wasn't sanitized, either consciously or unconsciously.
I don't think some retard who has a bio full of personal background and employment history just laying around on the open web readily available to any psycho who has a bone to pick and wants to fuck up your life should be calling anybody else "complacent", just saying. https://v.cx/rob
