I only had time to skim for the moment, but my initial reaction is that I disagree.
You're right that Mastodon doesn't work like old Twitter. That's because it is something entirely different. I have community here, as opposed to random shit some alg decided I wanted to see.
I follow a few hash tags, and boop, there's new people to follow that are relevant to my interests.
