@yomiel@new.asbestos.cafe @meso@new.asbestos.cafe @felimwhiteley@fosstodon.org Also I'd take Indian developers from StackOverflow over Zoomer "vibecoders" any day of the week. At least they are using their brain.

@yomiel@new.asbestos.cafe @felimwhiteley@fosstodon.org @meso@new.asbestos.cafe I can say a lot of bad things about gnome in terms of design and project management but I never had this issue. It's probably something specific to your setup.

everything in gnome feels like it takes one second to happen, like it has input delay.

@yomiel@new.asbestos.cafe @felimwhiteley@fosstodon.org @meso@new.asbestos.cafe I like KDE but I don't use it on lower end machines either.

XFCE is my goto DE on low end hardware.

It's been a long time since I used it so I can't say. I don't remember the last time I used it on desktop. All I'll say is it's not forgiving on lower end machines.

@yomiel@new.asbestos.cafe @felimwhiteley@fosstodon.org @meso@new.asbestos.cafe Sorry I live in the 21st century and even though I'm a massive nerd I like being to edit my configurations using a damn GUI. I'm not a fan of dogmatic minimalism.

I always go one step further and use DWM so I never really experience any sort of slowness.

XFCE is probably my second go to though, I used to use it when I used slackware.

The thing is you don't have to use the start menu, in fact you don't even need to see it.

I'm partial to LXDE as well, though just like XFCE it's start menu is abhorrent. (Win 95 Style)

Xfce is the only sane full fledged desktop environment. It's so reliable it didn't get any major upgrades in years and still works fine, no major bugs.
