   - the iraq war cost ~600 million dollars per day and lasted 9 years
   - the war in afghanistan cost ~300 million dollars per day and lasted 20 years, ending with a total victory of the taliban
   - other 'war on terror' activities in over 80 countries cost ~500 million dollars per day and also lasted 20 years.
