   Huh. They kept saying I'd shift right when I grew up. The reality is, the more I learn and the more experience I gain, I keep getting further and further in to that lower left corner.

     Actually, the whole “you get more conservative as you get older” truism was based on the fact that throughout the lifetime of the boomers, The West and especially the US was becoming so wealthy from the spoils of World War 2 that basically anyone of a certain age was incredibly likely to become more wealthy as they got older, and the more wealthy you get, the more greedy and detatched from reality you get, and thus the more conservative you get. But Gen-X and later are experiencing poverty at an ever-increasing rate, and so fewer and fewer people are becoming conservative as they get older.

     While I'm sure there are 'bad' ones out there, I'm not convinced that he is autistic. Aside from him being a well known liar, so far the only evidence I've seen is just the one time he mentioned it, and that was on Saturday Night Live, not the best venue for accurate information. Every other source I've found has just been media outlets talking about that one time. And then there is the interview I heard about where he referred to that time, saying "...or whatever it is I said I was." 🙄

     Gatekeeping is such a gray area. Which sucks, we're not exactly famous for liking gray area concepts.
     On one hand, yes, self diagnosis is valid, and official diagnosis is difficult to impossible to get, and currently unsafe in some areas.
     On the other hand, what would being autistic even mean if people all call themselves "a little autistic"?
     Gray area.
     I don't like gray areas.

     Hence why I say that I'm not convinced. If he had said it more than once, and in almost any other setting, that'd be different. But I don't like the way that this looks like what was most likely a joke suddenly gets treated as fact by the media. We have enough misinformation about us running around out there.

     I get what you mean about the gatekeeping part. I already caught hell from someone accusing me of that once.
