I love NZ and always want to move there, but I do not want to move there and then have to move to Australia

@rossgrady I’m sure. The jobs situation is pretty dire, especially for new immigrants, but with enough personal wealth it’s a great place.

@skinnylatte see now I’m sitting here wondering if things have gotten so dire that they’ll consider letting in a stinky American like me . . . In conversation permalink -

@sumisu3 yeah, not comparable to sg salaries or opportunities either. I see it as a cool retirement home. Lovely place.

@skinnylatte tough to get a good paying job here. I’ve done Asia Pacific roles so the income has been good, but now coming off a sabbatical and looking at local opportunities it is pretty sparse and the pay definitely isn’t Silicon Valley company pay at all. While the cost of living is high and increasing. For a country that grows so much food, including dairy, our prices are outrageous.
The beat Fiji by 2050 is a bit harsh but not entirely…

@reesecommabill sure, but it’s the structural issues there (few good jobs, even fewer for immigrants) that makes it hard. Great place to live, hard to thrive (I would say harder than here)

@skinnylatte Does that mean it would make it easier for Americans to emigrate there if things get… you know… worse?

@hovav everyone I know who moved to NZ from outside, loves it to bits, has had to leave for better jobs in Aus. They’re very bitter about it (as theyd rather be in NZ, as would 8)

@skinnylatte A Kiwi podcast I've been listening to has ads from the Victoria state government recruiting early childhood educators to relocate!
