     I figured they probably were. I've seen those Blackthorns. Pretty badass. There's an ancient Irish martial art built around the use of those things. I saw a demonstration vid on YouTube by some older Irish practitioner. Dude was deadly with that thing.
     
     I carry around one of these. There's a lead weight in the business end. One swat and it's "lights out."

     Carry around something innocuous that can be used as a weapon, like a bike lock and short length chain or cable. Or at least a cane/walking stick. Some of them are designed with a concealed blade in the handle.

     Swordcanes are very illegal in the UK, that one's a bad idea as almost none of them are subtle enough to get very far. Personally I recommend this, mine's never even been scratched or warped and I've had it for the best part of a decade now. Plus it has the added bonus of shillelaghs being an irish fuck you to english weapon restrictions.

     We used to worry if the blade was over 3" but now any folding knife whatsoever is illegal in NY state. Even those 1" blades most men carry for utility.

     This is interesting, because 6 months ago every website was saying absolutely ALL folding knives are illegal across the state, now I'm getting "no gravity or switchblades, sword canes, knuckle knives, and folding knives with blades over 4 inches." It seems either the reporting was changed or the laws were rolled back some.

     I never really felt a connection to england tbh, I've always been in the minority of a minority? I was one of 2 goth kids in my year of ~300, the only outspoken lolbert and it was a roman catholic school and I was a satanist. People watched enough to get along with most of the various subcultures but never fit in with any, never supported sportball or tribalism.
     
     I'm far more likely to get a US citizenship and ditch the UK one altogether at this point.

     I'm not in the game personally, I don't even want to go back there again at this point. I do want every pedophile and pedophile supporter to die painfully, but trying to save my home country?
