I tried it again from higher up and I'm pretty sure I did, I mean, I'm not getting much back but I _am_ getting transmitted back to so.

The repeaters in AUS are not on that frequency
as far as I can see
      I thought you were here
      sorry
I thought they might share the input with other relay towers for the output?
So then a hand held near a repeater could broadcast all over the world?
But it would be as busy as if it did?

We have 147 MHz for FM VHF CB radio
and the listed ones in the link below for Ham Radio repeaters

@Rory29 oh repeaters are not on any single specific frequency here

here's a list of repeaters and what they can do in King County which is around Seattle:

      https://www.repeaterbook.com/repeaters/location_search.php?loc=King&type=county&state_id=53

we have a bunch of 70cm and 2m repeaters too (and other ranges) but we do have a little chunk of 1.25 meters available and luckily I spent the extra $15 for the higher-power tri-band handheld because it's the best repeater I've found and the only one I know for sure is working xD

do you know how those repeater towers work?
Do they repeat you from every repeater?
Or just with more power from themselves?

I have a Ham radio but never used a repeater station
though I do listen to some on the UHF CB at channel 6

@Rory29 Different repeaters can do different things. I'm only hitting simple UHF/VHF FM-capable open repeaters right now, and they transmit you forward on their uplink frequency. (And as far as I know, that's all.)

WA7FUS receives on 222.62Mhz and retransmits you live on 224.22Mhz. You have to set a CTCSS tone of 103.5Hz on your transmissions for it to pick you up and repeat you forward.

Some relays also add a CTCSS tone on the way out, this one does not.

I should add that my license is brand sparkling new so almost anyone could tell you more than can I. xD
