    @Rory29 Different repeaters can do different things. I'm only hitting simple UHF/VHF FM-capable open repeaters right now, and they transmit you forward on their uplink frequency. (And as far as I know, that's all.)

    WA7FUS receives on 222.62Mhz and retransmits you live on 224.22Mhz. You have to set a CTCSS tone of 103.5Hz on your transmissions for it to pick you up and repeat you forward.

    Some relays also add a CTCSS tone on the way out, this one does not.

    I should add that my license is brand sparkling new so almost anyone could tell you more than can I. xD
