Hoss DelgadoMy phone has died twice in the past two hours because I've been trying to use it while charging and taken it off the cable without thinking about it. With all the innovations techies are signing praises about in the EV sector, you'd think some of this advancement would trickle down to phones. I want a phone that holds a charge all week regardless of usage level that can be recharged in thee hours or less. If it has to be as thick as my fucking Costanza wallet to achieve this, so be it. I don't care if it's ugly, only that I can use it without ever wasting a single thought on battery life.
@dcc@Hoss I really love my phone. More so than computer and tablet. It's something you use without thinking but is with you everywhere. You really get attached to it.
@dcc@Hoss I just appreciate the technology behind it. And since I pay with it in shops and bars it makes me feel good. I just love capitalism as long as I don't suffer the negative aspects of it
I understand your criticisms of phoneposters, but 2007 was 18 years ago. That battle was lost a long fucking time ago even more decisively than the battle of Eternal September that preceded it in prior years. I'd rather use my phone laying comfortably on the couch than walk upstairs to my three-monitor gaymenstation where I have to sit upright like I'm waging in the cage at work or something.
You guys remember when the iPhone came out and it had a *real* web browser? Instead of the vendor only hypertext only ones the flip phones had? And you paid by the kilobyte?
@dcc@Hoss I like the feel. I am materialistic in this aspect. But at least I have my phone for 4-5 years and don't buy stuff I don't need. I have a computer from 2014. It's just that urban feel I like IMG_20250313_184545_248.jpg
Remember when 3g was peak mobile data? I was in high school when everyone started transitioning over to 4g. By the time I was graduating 3g became synonymous with an ultra-shitty connection you might have to suffer through in bumfuck nowhere.
@tyler@dcc@Hoss I had my iPhone 3gs until around 2015. The people at store started laughing when I wanted a sim for it. They didn't sell 3g sims anymore. Lol
You must be old as fuck. I was a kindergartener in the 90's, I never got to really appreciate the pre-9/11 contagious optimism of the 90's like I'm sure you did.
Home Alone is kino. My uncle had a minor speaking role as the shopkeeper kid who chases Kevin when he steals a toothbrush. I spent most of my life living only a short walk from the Home Alone house, in a weird way that movie kinda feels connected to me.
I always think about this song when I reflect on the pre-9/11 bliss of the late 90's. The song feels like it encapsulates an era that was defined by a sort of recklessly optimistic hope that became a trademark of the decade. The sort of hope that would never be felt by anybody ever again. https://youtu.be/DL7-CKirWZE
@Hoss There used to be large replacement batteries for phones when they weren't hotglued to the rest of it and you could just pop the back lid off to take the battery out.
