They haven't decided which people will be written into the history books yet.

@Quentel @unabomber Schrodinger won the Nobel Prize in '33, his work being renowned for some years earlier than that. The Fahrenheit scale was being widely implemented within his [Fahrenheit's] lifetime. Your argument doesn't hold up.

@mischievoustomato @unabomber If we're being real here, actual candidates would be Terrence Tao, Linus Torvalds (maybe?), and uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

Besides repression of geniuses in our age, there just aren't a lot that go solo anymore.

It wasn't an argument. It's an observation.

Fair enough... sometimes I can be wrong.

Tell me what Einstein has done that changed the trajectory of humanity since he was written in texts as an example.

@Quentel @Forestofenchantment Centimeter accuracy GPS is possible because of Relativistic corrections. Photoelectric effect although not discovered by Einstein, was explained by Einstein using the math of Planck. It might have helped optimize LEDs which are used to make monitors and digital cameras. But to be fair a lot of this can be done without an overarching theory. Engineering optimizes new phenomena by rules of thumb.

Not many people know about Max Planck. History is selective because of those in control of publication.
