   I didn't have enough focus to read it all in one sitting - but that part about executive function... This is why I'm frustrated by "high functioning". I talk a lot, so have a big vocabular... But my god, I cannot do the things that need doing no matter how much I need it done. Even physical pain and suffering often isn't enough to drive me to get it done. Brain will not do task! I don't feel very "functioning"!

     Oh, and my ability to talk well ends up a stuttery mess, or goes offline entirely, under certain conditions.
     Ask me to explain computer stuff here online, I can do that all day! I need to tell someone what I need help with... nope. Set a doctor's appointment? Fail.
     Make a call about my taxes? Hopeless.

     Something I struggle with is I have a high IQ, my IQ was used as a bludgeon - "You shouldn't be struggling, you're so brilliant", and now I end up vesting myself for not being able to IQ my way out of my problems.
     I can't IQ up some executive function or some energy.

     @hellomiakoda @nellie_m @pythno @actuallyautistic Exactly same. on the outside I was "high functioning" (so much, in fact, that no one even thought I was autistic for the longest time), but in reality? I was working myself int an early grave, and if I'd had less mental abilities (and/or willingness to sacrifice myself), it would've been visible so much earlier.
