So I will be returning back to Japan 🇯🇵, but this time for a few weeks! Last time I stayed in Tokyo, but I am wondering if I should stay in another city. Any good recommendations‽

@_elena I will check Kamakura out. Kyoto looks beautiful from the photos I have seen.

@darnell amazing!!! Lucky you!!! I’ve only been to Japan 3 times… but absolutely LOVED Kyoto (in addition to Tokyo) and Kamakura (easy day trip from Tokyo)

@sbszine Really‽ I need to look that up to see how far away it is from Tokyo (where I am flying into).

@darnell Stay in Sendai. It's a beautiful, modern city full of nice people. Close enough to Tokyo if you need to get there, but far enough to avoid, well, Tokyo. Also close to Akita. (When I say close, I mean shinkansen-close.)
If you're planning to go West, I'd recommend staying in Hiroshima. You can easily reach Kansai and Yamaguchi from there, and visit Miyajima. It also has great bookstores.
