@icedquinn@blob.cat I used to say it, now I just say autistic tbh, not fond of the historical associations, but then again I also wouldn't tell people what to call themselves soo
@evelyn i don't really support the "let's dump everything in to autism" and wish a very stepped upon lego and hot sauce in the wrong part of the face on those doctors.
@evelyn and because i did read it before sending, some of the clinicians involved straight up said the new model is not actually helping people and is causing less of them to receive meaningful treatment
@icedquinn@blob.cat tbf if you read this, it points out that there's not a meaningful distinction at the "high" end, but I agree that there's an issue for those with more complex needs
@icedquinn@blob.cat it's also said that the previous system was arbitrarily applied and made a distinction without a difference at the high end. I'm not looking to defend the new approach, but the fundamental idea that these belong in the same category is imo not the issue, but rather the lack of useful delineation within that category.
@Alex@evelyn the irony is these people will whinge about evil colonialism as they repeat the exact same forcible integration games on everyone they claim to be helping
Feeling good about yourself and feeling like you've helped is more important than actually helping anyone, no matter how much the victims of your actions beg you to stop. In fact, they're selfish and ungrateful assholes for telling you that you're not actually helping; how dare they try to make you feel bad about yourself!
