     note that indiana, while further east is more fly-over-y because Indianapolis - what is it known for? Stock car racing. This of course gives it more of the southern feel, but the crossover between racing, monster trucks and tractor pulls is high.

     @WTFPurpleAlpaca Honestly, I think the people who do that the most are hicklibs - who try way too hard to distance themselves, and see urban living as "proof you matter" - ironically you matter the least in a modern city. You could die in your apartment and no-one would care until the stench hit the neighboring apartment.

     Every place is "spiritually dominated" by the nearest big city, that's the point of big cities. And if there's a place that's too far away from a big city to really be affected by it, then that place itself gets turned into a big city over time.
