   I had quite a few “lightbulb” moments this week when I finally understand something I should have understood years ago. Like, DECADES ago. But better late than never, right?

     - a mastodon friend recently posted something about a “VCR camera” and I thought back to when my dad had the big clunky kind with a shoulder strap, and how they got small enough to hold in one hand. Thought about how back then they were called “camcorders…I wonder where that name came from. It’s like they were cameras…that recorded. Camera recorders…camcorders…omg!” I was so excited that I shouted to my partner who was making dinner to share my discoveries with him. He was unimpressed lol

     @tiamat271 Ah, all the good memories with ours when I was little! We still have a bunch of the little tapes with no adapters, and most of them don't even have cases. I want to do something so I can watch them, and I hope they're not already too far gone.

     @Fragglemuppet Same! Even if they’re not salvageable, I’m going to hang onto them no matter what! I think there are companies that will digitize photos and video recordings…maybe will look into that some day.
