@hj@dielan it still boggles me that some people have no ability to do this. Its feels as natural as walking or talking or chewing, its just A Function That Your Brain Comes With.
@Vo@hj@dielan see I figured out a while back that strippers are to "I can't rotate an apple" (no imagination) people the same way that ASMR is for people with no internal monologue, so I'm thinking yeah.
@dick@prettygood Yeah nobody literally sees the apple, but they can think about the color, details, smell, taste, and think about how it would look from different angles. At least, that's my experience. It's like remembering a dream.
@s8n@dielan if I wasn't wearing a good helmet I definitely wouldn't be here. My head slammed into a steel pole filled with concrete at about 35 MPH (55 km/h). It gave a good smashing to my helmet.l and knocked me out for several minutes. After my head hit my shoulder hit. My shoulder was sticking out an extra inch and a half. That caused my C6, C7, C8, and T1 to be ripped out of my spinal cord. So I pretty much lost the use of my right hand with no way to repair it. They took nerves out of my arm when they amputated to repair what they could in my shoulder and that got most of my shoulder/rotator cuff movement back but that's it. Also, because my T1 got avulsed the right side of my face droops a little but it's not that bad. Especially compared to how bad losing a T1 can make your face droops.
The brain damage was from my brain bouncing around in my skull and hitting the sides. It didn't like permanently kill parts of my brain or anything. The kinetic energy just broke a lot of the connections between neurons so treatment of that is mostly focused on rebuilding those connections between neurons.
I was taking Aricept which is an Alzheimer's medication because causing the brain to form me neural interconnects is how it treats Alzheimer's (which does the opposite). However that started to give me really bad nausea.
I started reading a whole bunch of research papers on psychedelics and they are really really good at forming new connections so I decided to give those a try and man they're crazy.
I can definitely tell a difference and an improvement and I've had a few people mention the same to me so that's reassuring.
I now also now have very little trust in modern medicine.
@mjdigspigs@s8n@dielan my latest neurocognitive testing has shown that most everything is back to normal.
My executive functions was at about 60% of normal and now it's slightly above normal. My spatial reasoning was at about 70% and now it's pretty much right at normal.
The only thing still not normal is my reaction time but that's improved from about 55% to about 75% so hopefully it continues to improve.
