God, after using nginx everywhere for years, I tried to do something simple in apache and its like, a fourteen step process.
Why are you like this? How do you people live like this? I'm not afraid of "old software" but holy shit.-

Seriously the guy who configures and builds all his software from source is telling you "this shit is too complicated". There's no excuse for this. -

Apache isn't "old software", it's bad software and always has been.

@gentoobro I'm convinced it was made retarded because they insisted that it be able to run on Windows. -

@prettygood I don't get people who say "but Apache is easier to configure" because compared to nginx, it's just... not?
tbh the only reason to use Apache is maybe because you have something on old PHP, and even then it's better to proxy from nginx. It's just a legacy software at this point, and should be treated as legacy.prettygood and Pissed Hippo like this. -

@a1ba it literally isn't easier, for any use case. Anyone who says its "easy" writes XML by hand and staples their dick to their keyboard tray or something. -

@a1ba @prettygood the rewrite headers facility in apache is so incredibly annoying, there are commands that look identical but work at different parts of the request process. -

@prettygood@socially.drinkingatmy.computer @a1ba@suya.place the whole 'easier to config' is likely from people who used apache for all stuff before nginx was a thing
everything is 'easy' if your already very familiar with itprettygood likes this.
