   Wife asked me today why so many kids are such a mess. Asked me in the context of some decent people she knows who have all kinds of problems at home despite that, despite all theirbest efforts. I could tell she was concerned as well about our son. What I said was there is no systemic forces on the side of the parents. All of those forces are actually in opposition to them. Even if they were actually neutral instead of antagonistic, socially children would still be messed up because there is no system for parents to fall back on.

   What I mean by system is the various forces that make up a society, such as communities, culture, institutions, collective knowledge, etc. Individual parents now have to be able to replace all of those forces on their own, forces that could fill in the blanks. No parent now can say “well that’s how everyone else does it, so I’ll just do that too” when they’re not sure what to do.

We all know a guy who went to college, either willingly or under threat from mom and dad to kick them out of the house, and came out buck broken in debt and/or unemployable anywhere besides chipotle.

     @borzoi @SecularBlasphemy I'd say about 15 to maybe 25% of zoomers (at a very generous most) are on or near our side (almost all of them men), the rest are totally mind broken.

     @borzoi @SecularBlasphemy When I eventually get married and have kids I fully expect to get looks of pure confusion and disgust from fellow zoomers when I'm out and about as a normal faucet of life. The whole poisonous concept of "oh you're too young to have kids you should wait a bit" has been extended ad infinitum

     @borzoi @SecularBlasphemy This is only going to get worse with gen z and alpha since parenting is now turning from something some people do to this weird thing that is essentially only sought after by a select few (religiously, politically, or culturally inclined zoomers) with the rest just sticking to this strange pseudo life where they act like they're 20 for their entire lives (like the millennial term "adulting" but on bath salts)

     @Nirty_Digger @RoyalJohnny242 @SecularBlasphemy @Shadowman311 @borzoi Or alternatively: they falsely get the idea that they're going to be dead by 25-30 from drug use or getting shot or something so they burn out with criminal activity, getting involved in gang feuds, and drug use. Blame mumble rap and hedonistic lgbt culture for this.
     
     Then they're not dead and it hits them like a brick that they just wasted years on nothing but a criminal record lifestyle or worse they wind up dead for real.
