   I use the service @alt_text to remind me when I oops and forget the alt text. Got dinged today; fixed it. I consider angry responses that assume a person is bad in such cases the worst bullying, and incredibly counterproductive. A gentle nudge saying, "Adding #alttext to images expands your audience to people who'll well appreciate your effort," both more effective and more Mastodonian. Often I put important extra info in the alt text and state it will behoove sighted people to read it.

     @sfwrtr @Aphelion @kentpitman @alt_text Mostly when someone says "You're dead to me" you can shrug and say, "mmkay bye!"

     Or just block and ignore, because that kind of personality is toxic anyway.

     @ksaj Comments like "you're dead to me" make me not want to do alt text.

     The are unnecessary, unkind and create a toxic environment. Compared to how not having an alt text does none of the above.

     @amszmidt @sfwrtr @Aphelion @kentpitman @alt_text I just block people like that. They are useless, and don't provide the Utopia they think their presence exudes.

     They usually come from places like X. They should stay at places like X.

     Why should anyone give a shit if this one person, Michelle, is so distraught over such a thing that she (oops, setting myself up for not reading her profile to see if she has other pronouns) must act out like such a self-important pest.

     She'll inevitably block me, and I won't even notice lol.

     @Heidentweet is a great example how to make a normal discussion toxic (got blocked to, good), nobody said that is what @Aphelion wrote, nor did anyone in the thread claim anything.

     This is why we cannot have nice things.
