Dear Sony: What the hell have you done with your treasure chest of classic IP?
This #StateofPlay was largely disappointing aside from some smaller. promising indie titles (awesome to see PixelJunk and Housemarque in the mix).
I actually did a double take when it ended, saying "is that IT?"

I also find myself more excited about Nintendo franchises lately. So many of these games showcased in #StateofPlay are all about death, suffering, terror, violence, doom and gloom... and that's fine. There's a time and place for that in gaming.
But with the state of the world, yea, just bring me the colorful, whimsical, wondrous stuff #Nintendo is known for. We need that shit more than ever.

@CleanDesign You know what? You've articulated what I couldn't quite put my finger on yesterday. The "sameness" of the trailers, especially most of the action/shooter ones. (Sidenote: I feel drawn to Avowed right now simply because of the bright colors and blue skies)
Another thing? I was watching some YouTube commentary about State of Play from Jake Baldino of Gameranx (we used to write together) and he kept saying "yep, that game hard... this game looks hard..."
Clean Design
@killyourfm I don’t know what it is, but they all look the same to me, even across different genres. Maybe the dark colors all browns and reds. It all looks boring to me. What Nintendo is doing and even what third parties bring to Nintendo seem more exciting. Indies and revivals have also been so great lately. No time for the 200 hour edgy games that want to be movies, but aren’t as exciting as movies.

@ReverseModule This is very similar to my journey, and now I find myself rediscovering Nintendo IPs again, completely enthralled by them.

@killyourfm I absolutely agree. I've always been a Nintendo fan but as the years passed and I discovered Steam I drifted to the PC side.
These days I'm finding myself going back to Nintendo. They have a very particular kind of vibe which I appreciate a lot.
Even in their more mature offerings like Metroid, Eternal Darkness or the Xenoblade series they can offer something unique and exciting for my brain.
It woud not be an exaggeration to say that I would be content just owning a Nintendo console. And that's how I see myself in the future tbh, with PC gaming (apart from some select franchises like Final Fantasy) being a bonus.

@killyourfm Yeah I missed a lot of good Switch games as well and trying to catch up right now.
I hope I'll be done by the end of the year and will be able to focus on Switch 2 ASAP.
I'm buying Metroid Prime 4 day one though no matter the system! :)
