Interesting. In english, ‘enshittification’ gives a mixture of violence and sophistication, violence because of the vulgar root and sophistication because of the Latin affixes. But the mixture is humorous, so it's sort of a faux sophistication.

Das Einscheißen von Amazon … die Einscheißung von Amazon … I think I prefer the latter but the former is also fine, especially if you as a native speaker (if you are one, which I am not) tell me that it's better.

For the verb ‘enshittify’, I agree. As a noun, it could be ‘enshittifying’, but ‘enshittification’ needs more heft IMO. I suggest ‘Einscheißung’. (Although part of the fun of ‘enshittification’ is the mixture of a Germanic root with Latin affixes, which is lost here.)

@HSBXL @pluralistic on the other hand I'm surprised that the German #Wikipedia, which I would be more familiar with and which has the second most articles, doesn't have an article on #Enshittification yet. Wanted to verify that we don't translate it to "Scheißifikation" in German (which somehow would sound weird to me and which I never used with friends). But that's probably because we are (mostly) quite used to Anglicisms in Germany, especially for tech.

Visiting the @HSBXL lately, after all these years, was a lot of fun. Loved the friendly, open culture and the mix of languages. There was one language moment I found particularly interesting: There was one conversation in French somewhere in the room, which I couldn't really listen in (my FR skill is still WiP) - but I heard #Merdification and my brain triggered: "Oh, they are talking about @pluralistic 's #Enshittification.". And yes, the FR #Wikipedia article has that translation, too :-)
