     I often wonder why so many people join political parties, but I quickly remember the words of WS Gilbert:
     
     I grew so rich that I was sent,
     By a pocket borough into parliament,
     I always voted at my party's call,
     And never thought of thinking for myself at all,
     I thought so little, they rewarded me,
     By making me the ruler of the Queen's Navy.

     If they've a brain a cerebellum too,
     They've got to leave that brain outside,
     And vote just as their leaders tell 'em to.
     
     It's a career path which appeals to people who don't want to think too hard, but like to appear virtuous.
     We need to make it a vocation.

     @KeepTakingTheSoma @RadicalCartoons @HebrideanHecate @Ladyfat I joined a socialist (in the constitution) party for 43 years starting as a Young NDP at 15. In 2011 they Xd out socialism and i ripped up my cards after ALL THOSE YEARS OF REAL ACTIVISM.

     And they can see countries where women are much less oppressed, so they know it's possible, and we can pool our resources.
     
     As Feminists did to help some women escape from Iran and Afghanistan. As KJK did by going to Brazil (which we all contributed to, by buying merch).

     @KeepTakingTheSoma @HebrideanHecate @Ladyfat Private Eye have always had a column called "Rotten Boroughs" about local political corruption and incompetence.
     
     They were a real thing, originally a very small Borough (we now say Constituency), which was created for example, just for the villages which lay within a rich landlord's Estate, to get him into Parliament.
     As he employed most of the men and propped up the small businesses (the only voters back then), the election was a done deal.
