     @ai6yr i hope it turns out be something interesting and isnt just a super gassy lava fart.

     the last one was pretty wild - that explosion in tonga that made a new island/volcano (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/new-island-pacific-ocean-volcano-eruption-tonga-new-zealand/) - i was able to read the atmospheric pressure change with my weather station for that one!

     Looking at the history of the area, I can't imagine it will be that tame... But then again, really, who knows? We don't have a lot of real time monitoring science behind telling when a volcano is going to destroy the local civilization/plunge the world into another world without summer/etc. Not a whole lot of seismographs around the last few times 🤪

     @steter @ai6yr well, ill tell ya, being present to watch a new island form VERY RAPIDLY would have been straight up cool as fuck.

     course, i suppose knowing it was going to happen with enough lead time to do something like that would have itself been a pretty neat trick

     @ai6yr @Viss Sooner or later it is going to release all of that energy like a giant molten pimple from hell.

     I've wondered if melting ice off of the poles, land-locked or otherwise, wouldn't change the planetary gyroscope enough to get volcanoes firing off as plates shift to accommodate the movement of so much mass from the far north and south to the equator and elsewhere.

     Geology. It's a growth industry again.

     @steter @Viss There's a heck of a lot of island shifting on Iwo Jima... you should compare all the satellite maps. None of the (static) satellite imaging services ie Google Maps, Apple Maps, etc. have the same images!! The island is shifting due to volcanic activity... moving around WW2 stuff too due to uplift etc.
