     @Jennifer @thebeeguy I hope you are correct; although I fear the USA is far closer to Margaret Atwood’s tale of #Gilead than people in much of the USA realise or understand, so far. I’m looking at this from Ireland. Cancelling events like Black History Month, DEI in business, controlling womens autonomy etc is terrifying to see from elsewhere.

     @HarriettMB @thebeeguy our system is pretty weak, but I think Democrats can win back the house in 2026 in states that aren't currently controlled by crazy people. Our system is pretty dispersed and stronger than you imply. What is currently happening now with dismantling the federal government is going to destroy a lot here and people are going to start to get really pissed when they realize what that really means, even people who voted for T. Maybe people will just roll over and we'll turn into something like Hungary. Or maybe people will fight back. I don't know. At any rate it's going to be a chaotic four years. #Trump #USPol

     @HarriettMB @thebeeguy we tried to do something last November, but too many people in this country are fucking idiots. I'm sorry to say there's really nothing we can do now since his party controls the entire government for the next two years and Trump is now basically a mob boss not following laws. We warned people who said they wouldn't vote for Harris because of this issue but they didn't listen.#Trump #USPol

     @Jennifer @thebeeguy If you think Musk is going to allow free and fair elections in two years time, you are deluded. Trump stated before being elected that voting for him would mean people never have to vote again. I do not believe he was lying at all. Musk’s people in DOGE are in all the computing systems - any ‘election’ will be similar to Putin or Kim John Un holding one - a 98% turnout who all vote for the same candidate. None of the people selected by Trump to run various departments are bothered about democracy in the slightest. Neither are any of the billionaire backers of this. Law, democracy and rules are over; congress and senate are irellevant as he’s bypassing all that with business done by Executive Order. And some ‘Democrats’ are voting for the completely unfit candidates he’s putting in charge of departments.
