     @farah @tinydoctor We have a Barista Express (in cranberry), albeit an earlier model from 8 years ago. It seems spendy but it has paid for itself many times over.

     Initially I thought I would want a separate espresso maker and grinder so that if one broke then we could just replace it, but the Breville has been rock solid and their support is good.

     We also have a separate milk heater/foamer which is easier to use and quieter than the steam rod.

     I see they have touch screen models now and the thought of navigating a touch screen interface before morning coffee makes me recoil in horror.

     @jbayes @farah I think it's a Phillips 3300. When we travelled in Europe, my wife became enamored with the automatic expresso machines in all the hotel breakfast bars, and found ours online at a discount. We are so fucking bougie. Long gone are the days when I used a stove top expresso pot in my walk up.

     @farah I was on the Espresso Road (stealing that) in 1978. I'm not a snob, I'm an addict.

     You young whippersnappers don't know bad regular coffee was in the 70s. And I sat in 24 hour cafes drinking galloons of it. An espresso bar was like an oasis in the middle of the Sahara desert.

     @tinydoctor I don’t know about you, but looking at my own coffee habits, once you start down the espresso road, you’ll end up being a coffee snob 😅. Thanks for the info. I have a delonghi (basic) espresso machine but I’m really happy about the coffee I chose (lavazza)

     @farah By the way, I like Lavazza. I buy local, tho'--Safai--a local roaster's blend of Indonesian and Central America beans. As I'm an addict and don't want to run out, and Trump threatens imports, I have about 15 pounds of coffee beans downstairs. Prolly should get a big jar of instant just in case.
