@Harald@integerpoet@jeffowski What you're saying makes sense Harald, being proud of something you have no choice over is vain. Ultimately, we should find our identity in our achievements, our character, and our reactions to life's situation.
However, black people for centuries are portrayed inferior. They're compared to white people, made to look like animals, or people with no history, or no beauty to broadcast in public. This is changing, yet it still exists. So "proud" brings it to normal.
@jeffowski Outstanding! I further recommend all white Americans recalibrate their racial perceptions by getting a DNA test. In order to finally realize just how African that they too actually are. Race is not biological. It was and always will be a false social construct designed to oppress people - Period.
@econads@Harald@integerpoet -- Memes are a sort of shorthand to make a point. The memes are very short and usually only have a very simply message. Memes are shallow. No depth, no nuance.
This is why memes are so awesome. It is a modern day Rorschach inkblot test where people will project their psychology and politics onto, whether those things are in the meme or not.
So, to quote Megan Thee Stallion, “a hit dog gon' holler. That's it. Whoever feel it, feel it”
@Harald Eh, aside from what others have said lower down the thread which I agree with, I used to think like this, but then if your parents or friends do something hard, won't you be proud of them? You didn't do it but you can still be proud of their achievement despite contributing nothing. So I think that maybe pride in your tribe, be it nationality, football team, whatever is just an extension of that. It depends on the "achievement" though.
