    once again spotting Debian users insisting upstream supports their old unmaintained versions of software

    stop this madness, please.

    like sure you can use Debian and its fine and yes yes, i do not hate Debian.

    but please report to Debian and NOT upstream! Debian can report to upstream if they deem the bug to be something that should be reported.

    remember that the bugs are stable too

      @aks Reminds me of how some of the Debian devs I know would rather have "stable" be called "frozen".
      Part of that being due to bugs being kept in place.

      @lanodan @aks

      Renaming "#stable" to "#frozen" sounds like a good idea. Being a DD myself, I never heard it before. Or don't remember it.

      @debacle @lanodan @aks @debian I thought testing gets frozen before it becomes stable.

      Yes, #Debian gets frozen (or: is in freeze) when #testing becomes #stable. Still, when the process is done, calling it e.g. frozen instead of stable would (maybe!) reduce the confusion esp. of new users, who wrongly believe, stable Debian only has "stable" (= bug-free) software. The term has a double meaning, which is OK for those who know, but bad for newbies. Any other term than "stable" might be better 🙂
