     @mangeurdenuage @sun @Inginsub @RustyCrab @GrungeQueef umm, the deepseek models are as close to open source AI as we've gotten so far.. and, why are they acting on suspicions? you can run it locally and audit what it sends back (it works offline, no connections, btw)

     Publishing your weights is not open source though. It's basically just making your web app available for download, i.e. freeware.
     
     Being truly open source would require them to publish their training data. Which they don't.
